Congratulations to our member, Professor Wang Yao, Chair Professor in HKU’s Department of Physics, on receiving a Certificate of Merit at the Fourth National Award for Excellence in Innovation, recognising his pioneering contributions to valley optoelectronics in two-dimensional semiconductors. This national honour underscores his long-standing impact in condensed matter physics and quantum materials, and highlights Hong Kong’s leading position in frontier fundamental research.  Well done, Professor Yao, on this well-deserved recognition!
