Executive Committee

Management of the Alliance shall be vested in the Executive Committee (ExCom) consisting of no fewer than five persons* (with a maximum of eight), including a Chairperson, a Vice-Chairperson and an Honorary Secretary.

* At least five members so that all five subject disciplines are represented.

Terms of Reference

To govern and manage the operation of the Alliance in pursuit of its objectives.
To endorse the Chairperson and membership of the ExCom for the next term.
To plan and implement initiatives of the Alliance for promotion of research excellence as well as sharing and collaboration among the research community to generate greater impact.
To promote recognition and visibility of RGC Senior Research Fellow Scheme (SRFS), RGC Research Fellow Scheme (RFS), RGC Junior Research Fellow Scheme (JRFS, formerly known as RGC Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme (PDFS)) and other RGC research fellowship schemes as well as the fellowship awardees.

Term of Office

The Chairperson, who shall be a full-time academic serving at a University Grants Committee (UGC)-funded university, will steer the Alliance, appoint and lead the ExCom and convene ExCom meetings.
The Vice-Chairperson will deputise for the Chairperson.
The Honorary Secretary will assist the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson in the ExCom affairs.
All Members of the ExCom shall be Regular Members of the Alliance. They shall reside in Hong Kong and will generally serve for three years^{^}. Their term is renewable. They may serve continuously for a maximum duration of six years at any given capacity.
The current ExCom will endorse the membership of the ExCom for the next term at the relevant Annual General Meeting.^#

^ If a vacancy arises during the ExCom’s term of office, the ExCom shall have power to co-opt a replacement Member, who will serve the remainder period of the three-year term.

^# The first ExCom will, after inauguration, discuss and draw up the nomination, election and appointment mechanism for future ExCom.
