The Hong Kong RGC Fellowship Association (HKRFA) was pleased to have representatives joining the Research Grants Council delegation to Shanghai and Hefei from 11 to 15 May 2026, visiting major national science and technology infrastructures and leading universities in Mainland China.

HKRFA representatives included Chairperson Professor Alice Wong, Vice-Chairperson Professor Yu Huang, and ExCom Member Professor Vic Law.  The programme covered visits to Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the University of Science and Technology of China, as well as frontier research facilities including the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility, the National Facility for Protein Science in Shanghai, the Hefei Light Source, the Steady High Magnetic Field Facility, and EAST, China's  "artificial sun".

Through site visits and exchanges with Mainland experts, the delegation gained valuable insights into the latest developments in national research infrastructure and explored new opportunities for Hong Kong–Mainland collaboration in fundamental research, interdisciplinary science, and talent development.
