Congratulations to our member, Professor Xuechen Li from HKU’s Department of Chemistry, on securing funding for his project, Peptide Drug Innovation and Discovery, under the third round of the RAISe+ Scheme by the Innovation and Technology Commission. As the Morningside Professor in Chemical Biology and Chair Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Professor Li’s groundbreaking research aims to overcome key challenges in peptide therapeutics, such as instability, poor permeability, and short half-lives, to develop more effective and accessible drugs. This achievement not only highlights his leadership in drug discovery but also enhances Hong Kong’s position in innovative biotech research.
