Biography

Jack Adler-McKean is a performer and artistic researcher whose work offers perspectives of musicology, acoustic science, organology, and ethnography on performance practice studies through low brass instruments. He performs music new and old while also editing, arranging, and curating works for the tuba family, his publications including The Playing Techniques of the Tuba (Bärenreiter-Verlag) and articles in Performance Research, Music and Letters, and The Oxford Handbook of Wind Instruments. Since being awarded his Ph.D from the Royal Northern College of Music, his research has been supported by the Berliner Senate, the EU COST-Programme, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Lunds Universitet.
