Biography

Benjamin Becker directs the MIND & AI Lab and the Strategic Research Theme on AI, Society & Social Dynamics at The University of Hong Kong. Over the past 15 years, he has established and led research teams in Germany, Mainland China, and Hong Kong. His work integrates social-affective neuroscience with AI-inspired methods to investigate emotion and mental health. He examines how emerging technologies, including AI, shape these processes and develops technological and pharmacological approaches to improve mental health. He has published more than 340 scientific papers, translated findings into clinical trials, received numerous awards, and holds editorial leadership positions.
