Biography

Professor Carmen Tsui is an architect and urban historian serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Lingnan University. Her research focuses on Hong Kong’s housing and architectural history, architectural modernism, and built heritage conservation. In 2023, her article exploring the history and planning of high-rise communities in Hong Kong won the IBP Best Article on Global Hong Kong Studies award in the humanities. She is also the author of the book Everyday Architecture in Context: Public Markets in Hong Kong (1842–1981).
