Biography

Dr. Shenkutie is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Microbial Genomics and Bioinformatics at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he also earned his PhD in Medical Molecular Microbiology (2021). His research integrates genomics, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics to combat antibiotic resistance, focusing on biofilm-mediated mechanisms in Acinetobacter baumannii. He has been honored with the RGC Postdoctoral Fellowship (2024/25) and PolyU Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship (2023/24), following a Hong Kong PhD Fellowship (2017–2020). Formerly based in Ethiopian universities, he taught graduate courses, supervised research, led academic departments, and contributed to curriculum development. He is an active peer reviewer for international journals.
