Biography

Emilie Yueh-yu Yeh is Lam Wong Yiu Wah Chair Professor of Visual Studies, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Director of the Centre for Film and Creative Industries, Lingnan University, Hong Kong. Her recent publications include The Colonial Screen: Early Cinema in Hong Kong (OUP, 2025), 32 New Takes on Taiwan Cinema, co-editor (University of Michigan Press, 2022), Early Film Culture in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Republican China, editor (University of Michigan Press, 2018), Beyond Shanghai: New Perspectives on Early Chinese Cinema, co-editor (Beijing University Press, 2016), and co-author of Staging Memories: Hou Hsiao-hsien’s City of Sadness (2015).
