Biography

Cuncun Wu is Professor in the School of Chinese at The University of Hong Kong. She completed her PhD at Melbourne University. Prior to moving to Hong Kong in 2010, she taught at Nankai University and The University of New England. At HKU she rose from Associate Professor to Full Professor, and was elected Head of School from 2015 to 2021. Professor Wu has published numerous books and articles on gender and sexuality in traditional Chinese literature, in both Chinese and English. Her influence on understanding the relationship between social and cultural history is internationally recognised, and her work has been translated into Japanese and Korean.
