Biography

Ben Cowling is currently Chair of Epidemiology, the Helen and Francis Zimmern Professor in Population Health, the Head of the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong. He is also the co-Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Control. He conducts research into the epidemiology of respiratory virus infections, with a focus on transmission dynamics and the effectiveness of control measures including vaccination. Since early 2020 he has also been conducting research on the epidemiology and control of COVID-19.
