Biography
Theara Thun is currently the Lee Kong Chian NUS-Stanford Distinguished Fellow on Southeast Asia. His research interests include intellectual traditions, history, ethnic politics, and educational reconstruction, with a particular focus on Cambodia and Southeast Asia. He is the author of two books, including Epistemology of the Past: Texts, History, and Intellectuals of Cambodia, 1855-1970 (University of Hawaii Press, 2024), which received the 2026 Honorable Mention for the Harry J. Benda Prize from the Association for Asian Studies. His articles have appeared in Critical Asian Studies, Asian Studies Review, Journal of Southeast Asian Studies, and Studies in Higher Education.
