Biography
Professor Jasper Fuk-Woo Chan’s is a clinician-scientist specializing in the diagnosis, treatment and control of emerging infectious diseases. He has published over 380 journal articles with more than 46,000 citations, including first/corresponding author publications in The Lancet, Science, and Nature. His research team reported the world’s first familial cluster of COVID-19, confirming person-to-person transmission of SARS-CoV-2, which prompted major global policy changes (Lancet 2020: 1 of 34 articles highlighted in the “200 years of The Lancet” timeline). His team also established the world’s first COVID-19 Syrian hamster model, which has become one of the most widely used animal models for COVID-19 research worldwide.
