Biography

Professor Kwok is a Professor at the City University of Hong Kong. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2009, following an exchange program at the University of California, Los Angeles, and completed his Ph.D. at Pennsylvania State University in 2014. He also completed a Croucher Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Cambridge. His research explores RNA G-quadruplex functions in gene regulation, metabolism, and diseases. His laboratory develops aptamer and peptide tools for detection, imaging and intervention, as well as nucleic acid technologies for sensing pollutants. His notable awards include the NSFC Excellent Young Scientist Fund, the RNA Society Early-Career Award, and the RGC Research Fellowship. He was elected to the Young Academy of Hong Kong in 2022, co-founded the Hong Kong RNA Club, and serves as an Asia ambassador of the RNA Society .
