Biography
Yichao Yan graduated with highest distinction in Chemistry from UC San Diego, under the supervision of Ryan Shenvi, and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 2021 working with Melanie Sanford. Following postdoctoral research supported by the Research Grants Council at the City University of Hong Kong, advised by Alex Jen and Chunyi Zhi, he joined Nanjing University in 2024 as an associate professor with the NSFC Excellent Young Scholars Fund. His research focuses on redox flow batteries, with publications in top-tier journals such as Nature Energy, Journal of the American Chemical Society (7 papers), and Angewandte Chemie (3 papers). As a core member of the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Town-Chief Group, he has successfully bridged industry and academia, transforming core technologies through pilot-scale validation.
